Dumbstruck

Amazing, incredible, unbelievable .... these were the words that were doing rounds in the mind as I was being testimony to the-one-of-its-kind one day match (betn SA & AUS) ever played. Okay... I don't give a damn to cricket matches and don't keep track of them these days. I had to be extremely lucky to watch this one live! One day cricket - stretched far off its limits! Boyy....what an entertainer!!!

AUS - 434/4 in 50 overs
SA - 438/9 in 49.5 overs
In all, 26 sixes and some 88 boundaries hit ;-)
(with NO big INDIVIDUAL batting records set )
This summary sure gives an idea of how incredibly the things were happening. "They need script writers to run a commentary of this match" - A Zimbabwean player. The world over will be talking about this match tomorrow ... and probably forever ;-) I was literally sitting there dumbstruck, with my jaw
dropped - throughout :).

Gupta was checking the score on net and Bhau was watching Munnabhai MBBS in hall. Gupta said AUS are setting a world record by crossing 400 and lets watch the match on TV. And there we were... telling each other how SA should give up and 435 , in any way, seems to be an unrealistic target to achieve. Then after some time we found that SA were, however, giving a tough fight. Couldn't then switch to other channel till Boucher scripted history with the last boundary of the day, with 1 ball and 1 wicket left. In fact, nobody left the ground even after that!
Till today afternoon, I would have said SL's 398 vs Kenya was a record that would be there forever. Not anymore!
